Facebook ads – do they work?
I’ve always been a little dubious of Facebook ads. Personally, I don’t click them – it’s not what I’m there for. But last week, Facebook offered me £25 of free advertising credit and I decided to test it on Vanilla Inspirations.
We ran a 2-day campaign, targeting engaged women in the UK, aged between 25 and 40. On Facebook, that’s 615,100 people – we reached 42,822 of them, getting 39 clicks and 6 likes. At least that’s what the Facebook tells us, but actually, in the days after the ad went live, we watched our page likes rise from 61 to 77 – that’s an impressive 16 new likes.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. 34 people clicked through from Facebook to our Etsy page – and 6 people favourited Vanilla Inspirations’ products. As yet, we haven’t had any sales, but we’re in daily contact with our new likers through Facebook and we’re using an exclusive discount code to track orders, so we’ll know if anything comes in.
All in all, I’m still not sure that investing in Facebook ads will pay off, but I’m definitely interested in finding out.
