Amazon’s Price Check app angers competitors
I’ve just been reading about the Amazon Price Check app over on E-commerce Times. As far as I can tell it’s not out in the UK, but it seems to be causing a stir over in the States. Apparently the new app lets you price check products in-store against their price on Amazon. Wait, it gets better. It then gives you a 5% discount if you order online. Sounds great to me, the consumer. But oddly enough, high street retailers don’t seem to feel the same. Olympia Snowe went as far as accusing Amazon of “incentivizing consumers to spy on local shops.” I don’t know about you, but I seriously doubt that spying on competitors is Amazon’s top priority. It’s definitely a bonus, but what these guys really want are sales – and they’re going to get them by the bucket load.

When a fella called Richard posted this comment on the Bodyform Facebook page, they decided to reply. I don’t think this woman could be more patronising. Brilliant.

Fiat 500: great concept, great copywriting
I stumbled upon this Fiat 500 ad today. Isn’t it marvellous? Cute, quirky and all sorts of fun. The concept is simple, entertaining and memorable. The copy is short and to the point. It’s bloomin’ brilliant. Leo Burnett Iberia, Spain

The best of the web (according to a lowly copywriter)
Thus far, 2012 has been a tad crazed and I’ve been neglecting the blog… okay, so maybe I’ve been a little absent on Twitter too! Good news is, I’m back with a new blog feature and a super chatty Twitter

See it in situ
One of the downsides of being a freelance copywriter is that you can’t always work with a designer. It’s not the end of the world, but it does make the job a little bit harder. You can toil over copy

Title tags, meta descriptions and keywords
It amazes me how many companies don’t utilise title tags and meta descriptions. In an age where micro-blogging is common and SEO is key, surely these 69 character titles and 155 character descriptions are no brainers? Of course, they’re not
